Google's App Engine is an interesting idea, it works, but since it's missing a proper relational database, it limits it's overall appeal.
You use a custom application provided by Google for the deployment of your application. The applications themselves are configured through a simple YAML file.
Django is supported, but some features are limited due to the absence of a relational database.
